"Interference by people can cause mothers to reject their offspring," the Park Service wrote in a statement. "In this case, park rangers tried repeatedly to reunite the newborn bison calf with the herd. These efforts failed.
Or maybe the calf was already rejected and really was cold and shaking. Sounds like a CYA statement from Park Services. Point taken though, let nature take it's course.
Ehm... now I don't want to start any conspiracies but I am pretty sure the calf was probably not euthanized... like 70% sure. I do think that they are hyping this story up to scare people into not getting to close to wildlife. Human interaction with wildlife can cause serious problems on both sides of the fence. Look at a distance, do not feed, and please do not touch the wildlife.
I just don't understand, if the calf was abandoned then surely there is a zoo somewhere on this planet that would have gladly taken it in, maybe not but I tend to think it's likely they would have. Perhaps even a damn sanctuary of some kind.
