They are interesting bedfellows, anxiety and depression

Well written and intended article however, be cautious of regimented behavior intended to alleviate anxiety. It could lead to more anxieties in a neurotic mind. For example, following advice to eat regularly and cut down on caffeine while valid, could cause neuroses when you skip a meal or have coffee vis-à-vis “oh no I’ve had coffee/skipped a meal” anxiety

Really, the neurotic mind is geared towards anxiety and so it will turn anything into a reason to be anxious about something. The only true relief is to change that way of thinking.

Don’t misunderstand me. I’m not saying you should skip meals and guzzle coffee with reckless abandon. By all means, do cut down on caffeine and have regular meals but understand that the key to alleviate anxiety (and at by extension at least some of the depression) is to reframe your way of thinking.

Without that, adding more things to be neurotic about will simply make you more anxious.

Also, it goes without saying that doing that is exceptionally difficult
