People are not receiving the $100+ worth of entertainment value per month that cable companies charge. I'm honestly not getting what I perceive as value for money there. Netflix on the other hand, yeah, I'm getting value for money there. Often the shows on Netflix are more what I want to watch, anyway. Besides the sports, cable is lame. Many of those who subscribe to cable do so because it's the only way to watch major sports matches live (e.g. ESPN). If there was some other way to get sports, we could all move forward into the future and ditch cable completely.

You can get ESPN without cable from Sling and Direct TV on Roku and other devices now. It is much cheaper then cable. Sling starts out at $20.00/month. Direct TV is higher but has more channels.

I looked into this just now based on what you told me. I can't believe I wasn't aware of this! Thanks @jcscher for this awesome info! Will be looking to switch to Sling soon. You may be literally saving me $$ in cable bills. Also, Sling's sports package costs just an additional $5 per month and comes with all the must-have extras like ESPNU and SEC network. No need to bother with Direct TV for sports.
