A business is meant to grow and increase profits year over year. A private prison has no incentive to rehabilitate anyone that is held there. America uses the prison system as a form of punishment meant to torment those that happen to end up there. We don't look at those who have done their time as someone who can now come back to society and contribute. We see them as a ticking time-bomb. Waiting for them to commit their next crime. That is where these private prisons will flourish.

Looking at that map from the link I added, it appears to me that this corporation (and others) is just doing what businesses do best-- finding areas where there is little money in the state coffers (notice the high percentage of private prisons in the less-populated states?) and moving in to offer to take that problem off of everyone's hands. Sounds great in the short term, but then it does what a smart business does and cuts costs. This should never be an issue as far as corrections is concerned. Prisons should be run by the same folks who make and enforce the laws: our own government.

I don't think there is any other country in the world that has privately run for profit prisons. It just opens way too much problems and corruption.
