wish you had another slot to put this in /t/gameofthrones.
I'm going to continue reading. The show may spoil upcoming plot points, but it doesn't seem to know what to do. It doesn't have enough characters to fully show what's going on and the changes it makes to compensate aren't very good, imo.
I tend to agree with you as far as the changes regarding the show verse the book. I'm not a strict believer in "what is canon" vs. what isn't, I'm happy with having the two mediums doing different things - I love that the show provided faces to the characters in the books, but obviously books can provide so much more depth and detail than even an hour long TV series ever could. My allegiance to the book may be tested depending on how long, if ever, it takes for GRRM to write them.
I dont think it ended it but maybe the writers will rethink a few things. I will reserve my judgment for the first episode of next season.
