How much extra mass would this coating add to the wings and horizontal stabilizers? The surface area of the wings could be rather large, and adding mass to it will impact the takeoff runway length, engine power and fuel capacity requirements.

I like it. Wish I had the skills to do something this good, having been using Linux since 1992 from the old SLS and Slackware days. :( I am old.

If I were to visit Brazil again, I'd be more concerned about my personal safety. I had to fly up to Brazil every three months on a previous assignment. We were no strangers to crime and knew how to take care of ourselves in most cities, but were still assigned a security detail and were instructed never to leave our hotel and walk or drive around without them.

We took local advice, dressed down, carried about 50 reals in our pockets and the rest stashed away, Sao Paulo was ok, places like Avenida Paulista were fine during the day, but we were really creeped out by the sheer number of people who looked down in the dumps, staring at us even in Jardims. We were driven out for "sightseeing" and again, I was creeped out by the sheer aura projected in the favelas and outside.

I got pickpocketed once, got the creeps walking around at night, but generally had an ok time in the place. I can only imagine the rate of street crime going up when the thousands of Gringos land there before the Olympics.

The shaky camera technique which more movies are adopting these days, makes me feel queasy and I'd walk out.

When I read about the MtGox case last year, everything about the supposed "hack" appeared shady and often outright false. BitCoin itself uses a great underlying concept, and I hope it can evolve into something beneficial.

Gaza is an open air prison. They elected Hamas, a terrorist organisation, to better their lives. Hamas responded by sending Katyusha rockets from Gaza to hit civilian centres in Sderot, and a school in Ashkelon, and breaching the Rafah border with Egypt to smuggle in rockets and weapons. They've been hitting other towns as far away as Eilat and Beersheba with rockets. Now they have access to Iranian Grad rockets, mortars, and other weapons which they use effectively in the morning as people go to work and school to inflict maximum damage.

Still, they get help from their friends in Iran, Lebanon, Syria and other places to rebuild and regroup. Most of the money they get is probably used to buy new weapons, or we'd have seen some improvement in Gaza.

I truly hope we see peace in our lifetime. At the end of the day, people on both sides of the border just want to get on with their lives, go to work, take care of their family and have a decent life.

Man's selfish by nature. Combine this with an absolute lack of conscience & morality, some psychopathic trait, schizophrenia, etc, and you have someone truly evil. People like Stalin, Hitler and Pol Pot can't be explained any other way. I suspect they themselves have little control over their decisions once they reach the "truly evil" stage.

Why bother? Life on earth has a tendency to take care of itself. We overpopulate, strip the earth of natural resources, cause drought and famine, and in a few decades or centuries the population will automatically plateau or reduce to a sustainable level.

Even if we decimate the earth with slash and burn agriculture, strip mining, burning fossil fuels, and nuclear dumping, the planet is going to be here a long time, and will become habitable to some other species at some point in the future.

This is interesting because the iron dome shield is only effective against rockets but not missiles. That said, who does Canada expect to be shooting rockets into the country? North Korean submarines coming in from across the pacific?

It's just publicity, negative or positive, any way you spin it. Think about the tech-unsavvy people. It's not about "taking just 2 more mouse clicks to set a default browser". It's about grandma Edith who can't for the life of her figure out those two clicks.

Is it just me, or is there no link to the image(s) under discussion in the BBC article, or to the "internet campaign" the photographer launched to find the subjects?

Well, Beijing made money in 2008, London made money in 2012, Atlanta and Barcelona made money in the 90's. Other like Greece bled cash. Sochi last year was the most expensive in history, and I'm pretty sure they burnt through piles of cash, as I think Rio will next year.

Why are the Olympics dead, though? 2012 was pretty awesome and so was 2008. The decision to be a host city is a political tightrope, with each city and country having its own reasons.

He stole something and blamed me for it. Got me into big trouble at home. I took my time, caught him over the weekend when he was walking back alone from the playground, dislocated his shoulder and nearly broke his ribs. Haven't spoken to him in decades now.
