This next election will be interesting. I'm not sure Clinton will be able to stand even if there is a slight lean to Democrats at the moment. I agree with the article though as the Republican candidates are so numerous that voices are being drowned out.

if it is to be believed, Sanders is really making a push. I know here in Georgia, there is a growing group of us who really support him. He was the first person Ive ever donated money to in an election.

I'm Canadian, and my friends and I all took a test to see which candidate we sided the most with, and we all got roughly +85% in favour of Bernie Sanders. I like him. He seems like he's got his head in the right place.

Yeah-it's weird seeing Sander's jumping up in the general polls Source

To add to your point about the numerous Republican candidates, every time one of them has a meltdown it seems to impact the Republican organization as a whole. My hope would be that it pulls them to a more moderate stance, at least on social issues.

It does help that the entirety of news media is left. Can you imagine if Hilarity Clinton was republican? You'd be seeing nothing but Benghazi on the news 24/7.

It will be interesting to see how the conservative field gets whittled down. My coworker is confident that Jeb will end up with the nomination. He might be right - I don't know who else could make it through the field and stand a chance at winning.

We're going to end up with a Bush vs Clinton race all over again. Fucking legacies. Yeah, I'll vote for Clinton, but I hate the whole concept around this election.

And the GOP primaries? My god, you can totally tell that the party is flailing when there are so many people running this time.

Trump is second in polls? ROFL, don't make me laugh!

I wish these polls would include numbers for Libertarians.

First you would need to get everyone out of the crazy mindset of JUST a two party system.

But I agree, I wish candidates were not "dismissed" simply because they didn't fit the red vs. blue.

I feel the GOP had all the warnings they could get over the last two election cycles, and yet they decided to do nothing. This is just a consequence of that lack of action that dates back to at least 2008.

Not buying this. Columnists like this have been crowing for years about national ethnography shifting out from under the GOP, yet in that time Republicans took most state houses, governorships, the House and the Senate. Superficial analyses like this, pretending that party identification matters more than party unity or actually going to the polls, seem as though they're meant to calm everyone down, whether the railroad trestle ahead has collapsed or not. A possible clue to this is Trump's dog whistle still echoing so loudly. Seemingly ridiculous stances taken by Republicans get more attention when Democrats are about to lose and need a laugh.

The Democratic Party's shattered. The Democratic president and the Democratic leadership in Congress have made fast track authority their top priority, not just for this presidency but for the next one as well. Next, a whole raft of entangling alliances will be the top priority. Party unity's not at the top of that to do list. It comes somewhere below protecting expected profits as the highest purpose of government, ending the constitutionally-mandated republican form of government, and keeping one's pool heated year round. That's what this Democratic Party's about.

I'm more inclined to side with Gaius Publius and Howie Klein on these things.
