Both my cats have claws, and they've never scratched anyone with the intent to do harm. When they were little kittens and still learning not to scratch furniture, I put the soft caps on their claws. Now they don't even need them! Even though they're indoor cats, I would be terrified to declaw them for fear that if they ever got out, they couldn't defend themselves. This is reason alone to not declaw them, never mind the horrifying process and possible emotional damage and physical pain it could cause! I have no idea why anyone would ever do this.
