I have provided crisis intervention training for police. Trust me. These people have a tough job. Sometimes they have to make lethal decisions with very little information in less than a second. I think this is a lack of mental health education, awareness, screening, and services problem. IT shouldn't take a run in with the police to realize that a person is having a mental health issue.
