Wow. It looks like a semi-precious stone layered with different mineral deposits.
It really is astounding. I love the little river weaving through the canyon in the upper-right.
Itll be interesting to see how long this lasts. The Glen Canyon Dam (which holds lake powell) is a bit......controversial.
The siltation predicted and actual siltation since its building is a large discrepancy and it almost failed in the 80's. Some claim the siltation will clog up the dam within the coming 100 years. Others say the glen canyon damn needs to go now.
Dams just fascinate me in general but this is one of my favorites.
oh and it was featured in The Highwaymen - Highwayman video (Waylons verse).
