Because they would open themselves to all sorts of questions and potential legal jeopardy. Which US political campaigns (at all levels down to city dogcatcher) opened accounts to spread propaganda?
Did FB donate money to any of these campaigns or otherwise favor any of them? How about their algorithms, did they favor or censor anyone?
Losing candidate(s) sue, in discovery, how do these algorithms work?
Could not have said it better. Lots of skeletons in their moldy old closets they want to keep there.
