Lollipop was so bad I ended up getting a Blackberry. KitKat was pretty good. I got used to the basic premise. Phone was easy to use, could easily put phone in silent mode, alerts worked the way I liked them, things were easy to find in settings... It was good, you know?
Lollipop blew all of that out of the water. Yes, it was prettier. Trying to get a usable silent mode without clicking on a dozen things was impossible. The overview list was ugly. Overall bizarre behavior really turned me off from it. Settings... Ugh. I was never again able to drill down into settings to tweak something. I always had to search for things, get the name wrong, search again, find it, and muss with it.
Yeah, I could have went with Cyanogen Mod and see what they did with it, but I gave up and check out the competition instead. Perhaps I'll come back one day, but it won't happen while Lollipop is still around.
Some of those things were corrected on Cyanogen Mod. If your device is compatible, I suggest giving it a try.
