I'm squarely in the Dead's demographic wheelhouse, but they just don't do anything for me. They have a couple of songs I like we'll enough, but I never in all my years of tripping balls wanted to waste a high listening to them. And I sure as hell never wanted to sit in a field with 50,000 unwashed hippies while all of my senses were heightened.
I personally love sitting in fields of unwashed hippies, but I get where you're coming from. I had a college roommate that played the Grateful Dead EVERY NIGHT to go to sleep, so I am kind of over them. However, I will acknowledge that they did make a big contribution to music, and paved the way for modern jam bands like Lotus, who I do really enjoy.
