Flesh-eating bacteria have infected 2 children and killed a 77-year-old woman in the past month. Experts say this will become more common in the US as ocean water warms.
Yet another person on the East Coast of the US has been found to have flesh-eating bacteria. On Saturday, Brittany Carey's young son went swimming in Maryland's Sinepuxent Bay near Ocean City. Two days later he started developing "little spots" all over his body. The next day, those spots turned into gaping, red wounds, the mother said in a Facebook post. Finally, doctors diagnosed it as flesh-eating bacteria, and the boy started down the road to recovery.
