I'm new to the site; I'm a high school teacher and father of two in Oregon, originally from Hawai'i. I'm going to be looking around the site for discussions of science — especially breaking science news I can share with my kids — and teaching as a profession.

This looks like a nice collection of communities of interest, and I'm glad to have the opportunity to join.
