WTF? The last company I would expect to buy into VR.
Well what do they realistically bring to the table, other than money and greed?
This is horrible news. The Oculus community (testers, supporters, etc) just got burned hard.
How is it even legal to crowd fund a consumer product to only then flip the company before you give the crowd that product?
Thats a very damn good question. Anyone got any insight on this?

It's legal.
Yep. Facebook will stuff it full of ads, facebook signins, and the rest of the filth that comes with it.
This would be fine if they were any other traditionally created company, but they came from the fucking ground thanks to the gamers that founded the fucking project.
And there goes my interest in the Oculus Rift. GG!
I actually don't see why Facebook would even want to buy Oculus VR. Unless they were planning to actually venture into gaming and release a legitimate competitor to the PS4/XB1. Even then I wouldn't want to buy it because I don't trust Mark Zuckerberg with my personal information nor with venturing into anything gaming related.
My thoughts exactly, as soon as I heard the news this morning my hard on for the Oculus Rift went limper than a wet noodle...
Have you not seen how much certain patent portfolios can be worth?
Well that sucks, worst news I've heard in a while. What the fuck does Fakebook have to do with VR anyway..
Facebook on a spending tear. I think this is the best deal they have gotten for any of their acquisitions. VR will be huge and way beyond just gaming. Oculus took the safe route.
I'm not a fan of facebook, but imagine facebook combined with a second life type environment in a HD virtual world, people will love it. This is the beginning of the Matrix..........
Wow smart move to release this 5 days later, after all the DK2's were sold out
Well it was fun while it lasted.. luckily I didnt pre-order the lastest dev kit.
Game over man, game over.
Makes you wonder how far they will integrate this with facebook. Maybe we will be able to meet in virtual places and hang out.
Can you just imagine the privacy issues.
Yep, its bad enough without the VR. Im staying the hell away as far as I can.
