    There definitely should be more transparency regarding hospital billing, especially when the person did not get treated there. I feel sorry for people who wound up there with no heads-up about what the bill would be just for walking in the door. The young lady in the article specifically tried to avoid out-of-network charges by informing them she declines treatment from an out-of-network provider. I understand hospitals may need to charge an amount just to walk in the door and register the patient, but, that amount should be stated clearly at time of registration, along with which information on insurances they are accept and which are in-network and out of network. More transparency is clearly needed.

      I agree...And this is what I call good old fashioned price gouging. If you price care out of the reach of people,eventually you will price yourself out of business. Just astounding. They seem to think everyone has a money tree.
