One could take that view. In fact most people do
However I think of Computer Science as a branch of Applied Mathematics. But that's just my undergrad degree talking
I was taught in compsci courses that "computer science is about computers in the same way astronomy is about telescopes" and I never found reason to doubt that over the last 20 years of software engineering
