Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto has created a beautiful, undeniably scary time-lapse map of the 2053 nuclear explosions which have taken place between 1945 and 1998. It starts really slow — if you want to see real action, skip ahead to 1962 or so — but the buildup becomes overwhelming.

The real party didn't start until 1962.
Watching all the nuclear explosions in the US, all mostly in the same area, I kinda of get the whole "Hills have eyes" movie.. That is a LOT of nuclear tests. wtf
The UK and France were being cowards and nuking their colonies.
Well they don't exactly have much of their own land, especially uninhabitable desert.
