The size of that explosion is horrifying. Even more-so since it occurred in such a densely populated area.
Holy moly. It just chills the blood to see something like that in an urban area. Did anyone else immediately think of the Halifax Explosion? There's no video of that, of course, but I feel like I've now got a sense of it.
The whole thing is tragic, but can you imagine this? You're minding your own business and then suddenly a shockwave hits and your pets are dying.
Wow, that clip from the first 6 seconds of the video in the news article is incredible - that guy filming: he ded...
Oh those poor people..How scary.
I wonder what consequences this will have for the Chinese government, especially as dissatisfaction with corruption and the wealth divide is growing.
I am sorry to ask, but I just got off work and I don't seem to be able to find the answer: What happened? I get that there was a huge explosion, there's less than 20 people dead and 300 injured, it was in Tianjin in a residential area...but what happened? What exploded? Do we know yet?
Gas leak at a chemical plant. Industrial failure. The gas explosion (comparatively small) caught some nearby chemical tanks on fire and the firefighters couldn't put them out in time, which led to a second, much more massive explosion.
Thank you for the update. This is really disheartening, but at least it's not an attack or something of the ilk.
BACK AWAY FROM THE GLASS HOLY SHIT.
Can you imagine if this would've happened in the U.S. with all of the terrorism paranoia? People would have been freaking their shit! Iran would've been like, "Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit...""
I'm sure there's way more than just 14 dead, WOW though, looked like a dam nuke went off.
The confirmed death toll has risen to over 50
