I do love to read about whiskey. I suspect aging is a lot of the reason it gets so much history involved with it. Not only does someone spend years thinking up a good story about it, as you see with the Diego Orphan Barrel products at the end of the article, but there's also so much that changes. The stuff I'm drinking now was first put in a barrel shortly after 9/11 and before the Recession, when the US was very different from today. Some of the rarer stuff in my cabinet was put in a barrel during the dot com boom. With history like that, it's hard not to be nostalgic.
