It's more than this though.Unlike women,men have to prove they are men. it does not matter if they are xy,that's not good enough.
Actually, women are expected to prove that they are women, by producing the next generation. Not every woman can do that. People often seem to think there is something missing. That doesn't usually happen to men.
So, gun or baby? You choose.
I agree and disagree with this at the same time. There is a societal pressure to some extent to act 'manly' and this is usually silly. I was raised in the southern 'good ole boy' tradition in which personal courage and the will to be violent were considered important, but I outgrew it. In the end to be obedient to this model is a failure of the man.
