French Senate votes to ban child beauty pageants as part of women’s rights law
France’s Senate has voted to ban beauty pageants for children under 16 in an effort to protect girls from being sexualized too early. Anyone who enters a child into such a contest would face up to two years in prison and 30,000 euros in fines. A pageant organizer lamented that the move was so severe.

I absolutely agree, kids should not be subjected to this type of objectification. This is a pedophile breeding ground!
I actually have no problem with child pageants as long as the child wants to do it. I don't agree with the sugar highs they are given though. Theatre, dance, figure skating etc all have a lot of stage makeup and glitzy attire. I don't think the answer is to ban pageants. I think the answer is to adjust the norms and standards of these pageants to better fit the age group.
