The MCU’s Phase 4 was a messy but necessary experiment
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special have closed out Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — the shortest, longest, weirdest phase yet in Marvel Studios’ ongoing experiment in building a cinematic dynasty. It’s the shortest, because pandemic delays meant it lasted less than two full years, but the longest because it encompassed seven movies, eight TV series, and two one-off specials.

Why Are Angry Dude-Bros So Mad 'She-Hulk' Exists?
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law has been a fun show and an exciting entry into the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe because it has played with genre, poking fun at the toxicity that can exist in the Marvel fanbase, and brought back Daredevil. Kevin Feige On Not Recasting T’Challa In The MCU: ‘It Was Much Too Soon’
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, stories of Black Panther have so far focused primarily on the character of T’Challa – from his introduction in Captain America: Civil War, through to groundbreaking solo outing Black Panther, and into Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame – as he took over the mantle from his fallen father King T’Chaka. But following the tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman, Ryan Coogler’s sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be a very different kind of Black Panther movie – one without T’Challa at its centre, though still very much about his legacy.

The top movie over the weekend at Vudu was Marvel and Walt Disney’sDIS +0.3% Thor: Love and Thunder, with ParamountPARA -2.4% and Skydance’s Top Gun: Maverick placing second. The size of Top Gun 2’s haul ($705 million domestic and $1.453 billion thus far) has put the MCU on the defensive despite objectively high earnings for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ($955 million) and Thor: Love and Thunder ($750 million).
