"Droves" = how many? What % of the workforce?

      From the article:

A Harvard Business Review study from 2008 found that as many as 50% of women working in science, engineering and technology will, over time, leave because of hostile work environments.

That sounds like guesswork regarding future departures, I am wondering what % of the tech industry these women who are already leaving make up. If 50% of the tech industry was comprised of women who are quiting, this would be a huge deal. I am guessing it is vastly less significant, but the important data doesn't seem to be in this article.

Further down there are some numbers:

Google, whose engineering workforce is only 17% female [...]

Pinterest's technical team is 21% female.

Facebook, with a technical workforce that is 15% female [...]

Apple's global engineering workforce is 20% female.

I would assume they looked at past departures instead of guessing future departures, I think this is the study they mentioned. So if you're interested in their method you'll propably find it in there.

            Thanks for the input!

If that is the study they mentioned it problematically focuses on academic science laboratories, as opposed to the tech industry.

...wish I had something to sue about when my laboratory environment is hostile!
