Apple Invents a new method of detecting user ID and Presence to automatically awaken a Mac from Sleep Mode
Apple has been working on presence detection for Macs and a future TV since 2005 (published in 2009). Our cover graphic is from that patent. Over the years Apple's R&D teams have filed other patents covering user presence systems (01, 02, 03 and 04).
