My wife and I were hiking a few years ago and we visited an old semi-abandoned village. The villagers in Hong Kong would always plant Feng Shui groves for protection and good luck. Some of the trees are huge, and have been left unmolested for literally centuries. We came upon two ancient trees in the back of the village....and my wife started patting them and saying hello to them. It was quite remarkable to watch as she felt true respect and affection for these ancient and still vigilant guards. It felt mystical.
