I feel the steam reviews are the really big problem that's causing this to happen. While Rockstar have always loved the mods even featuring them Take Two has been all about that monetization, they even had the nerve to tell Rockstar they weren't earning enough on GTA Online, when GTA Online is ridiculously more successful than they thought it would be to the point you will get no DLC for the single player. So what's changed recently... old reviews have been changed from good to negative, new reviews are coming in negative and that means somebody thinking of buying the PC version might pause on that. Paradox is facing a similar problem, they increased the prices of their games like CK2 and EU4 and then had the nerve to say it was because they needed to retain the value of the games, none of which are really new at all, when the reviews turned negative the CEO said they wouldn't back down, when it continued to go downhill he quickly changed tune and has said once the steam sale ends they can change the prices back, and that we shouldn't take this as them giving in to mob rule just doing what's right.

Moral, if the steam reviews go bad, the publishers wake up and realize things aren't going their way and reverse course.
