Best thing that needs to happen? Let me choose what kind of ads I see. I don't want to see some random crap I'll never bother with. I want technology hardware ads, that's my interest and if an ad pops up with a good deal for something I may be looking for, I'll happily make use of it.
Enable cookies. Usually ads are targeted based on your browsing history, using cookies to tell them where you've been and what you've been doing. While it is a bit of a privacy concern, it's also better for seeing things you may be interested (based on their user data from other "customers").
What you're saying is you want to just opt in to a generic list though, right? If so, yes, that avoids the privacy concerns with cookies. Just wanted to say that they already do have ad targeting :-)
