I actively dislike YouTube's recommendations because usually they're either too close to what I've already watched, or they have nothing to do with it at all. If I watch something on YouTube it's usually a "how-to" or a music video, and usually that's all I'm looking to watch. I turn off autoplay because I know I'll get something that doesn't interest me. So, I feel like YouTube's algorithm isn't all that compelling anyway, at least not to me. To be fair, I don't really like video as a medium because it's so slow (I can read something way faster than getting the same info from a video). So I only watch it if I need to see every last step visually (in the case of a how-to) or if it's something that literally can't be done in written form (e.g. music videos).
I agree...The recommendations used to be much better than they are now. I get astoundingly stupid stuff I'd never watch such as :"How do cat's eat?" Why should I even care? I'm not a cat person anyway/
