YouTube actually steers people away from radical videos, researchers say
The study comes after a series of New York Times articles published earlier this year about radicalization on Google-owned YouTube.

Not sure this matters all that much to the average citizen. Those that want to be radicalized or are looking for really edgy content will find it, regardless if YouTube is pushing more mainstream content. If they don't find what they want on YouTube, they will go elsewhere to view the content they seek...perhaps even venturing into The Dark Web to get their needs met.
