This is why it's important to always watch out for number one. Your friends are friends, but they'll watch out for themselves and not you when a job comes up. Make connections, build up a portfolio, and pray you catch someone's eye like Eminem caught Dre's. This goes for everyone, I mean... if nationally famous dudes like them can get stuck in a rut, we most definitely can.
I don't think Eminem caught Dre's eye...
Dre specifically asked for Eminem to see if he could sign him to his label after Eminem did a battle rap with him in the audience. Eminem lost, but he did so well that he impressed Dre nonetheless. Thats what catching someone's eye means.
Whoops, my bad, I thought of it as the other way around, like I thought you meant Eminem saw that Dre had talent... My bad!
No worries lol. A year ago I wouldn't even have known who they were. Its humbling how much you can learn in a year!

Sure, Justin Timberlake's career skyrocketed after NSync. It happens. Sometimes one member carries the rest of the group, whether anyone is aware of it or not. Sometimes all it takes is a chance at being the sole person in the spotlight for everyone (including that person) to realize it.
