I took pharmaceutical and food science in College, and we had a course on the pharmacology of medicine passing the blood-brain barrier. It's actually astounding and fascinating how little we know about the brain, and in turn, how little we know about how drugs are affecting it. It was one of my most favorite courses.
I feel like drugs are definitely something to be respected, and that they have the potential to create very positive experiences when used with care. I really wish we knew more about this subject, which could give us a greater opportunity to safely experience and explore the potential of different drugs from this angle. Right now, it is painfully controversial and heavily negative propaganda is fueling a very toxic environment. I hope that one day in my lifetime, I will see a shift in these attitudes.
