Despite knowing the statistics my body still produces a high amount of anxiety flying on a plane compared to riding in a car. It's nothing an inflight Bloody Mary doesn't fix though.

        Most planes don't offer caesars.

Self driving cars should have been on the roads by now. The thing that is stopping them is the government because they want the revenue that comes from DUI's, deaths, medical expenses, etc. It's a travesty that Money always wins over safety.

I wouldn't blame it all on the government.. Public perception still believes that "human" drivers are more safe than "robot" drivers. If we released this technology too early, without enough testing and vetting of this system, if something were to happen the media would have a field day with it, threatening to set the technology back 10-15 years. Just look at Tesla and the battery debacle caused by the media.. four Tesla cars burst into flames due to massive puncture damage caused by driving over a large metal objects.. during that time, hundreds of petrol cars burst into flames, some even caused death. Even though battery powered cars are safer, the media didn't make it seem so.

Seems like every movie where humans despise robots is what the future truly holds. "According to Google, however, the self-driving cars will reduce road traffic accidents by over 90%. There shall be 30,000 fewer deaths and 2 million fewer injuries by 2020. Over $400 billion shall be saved in accident-related expenses since 4.95 million less accidents are likely to occur."

If memory suits me correct, I believe that there has only been one or two accidents involving the Google Self-driving car in the years it has been used. http://www.popsci.co...gle-self-driving-car

I personally am all for self driving cars, I think its an ultra safe technology and it will do nothing but good for our society. It will end road rage, massive pileup accidents, etc. I was just stating the obvious, not everyone is as forward thinking and most people still believe in out dated models and safety concepts. Its too bad really, we have something truly amazing on the horizon, if only everyone sees it for what it is.
