The 'Facebook Cop' and the Implications of Privatized Policing
When I read, early last week, about the police officer whose salary is currently being paid by Facebook, I was suspicious. More privatization equals less oversight. Worrisome to have absolute powers with no limits. The older I get the less I trust any institution, corporate or government. The one thing they all have in common is humans, and a certain sect of greedy and power hungry humans are attracted to such over-reaching jobs. Dangerous precedent we are setting here. Free for all where corporations make and enforce the rules with greater impunity. Who will enforce the enforcers?
So true!
Indeed a really scary thought, but this type of power hungry behaviour has been going on for thousands of years, and will continue to happen as we move forward.
Exactly. I talk about evolving quit a bit, and greed and the need for power over others is but 2 'qualities' I wish we would grow out of. To take and control only serves to keep humanity down in the muck and the mire, not elevate us. I often wonder why we still have these needs within us.
Because a lot of us (humans) still have that "lone wolf" survival instinct where you don't put your survival in the hands of others. This instinct is still quite useful since there are a lot of assholes out there that still take advantage of people that are too trusting, too loving and too gullible. Sadly, it works both ways...
So true..And this is just what we know is going on.
