Robot Sociopaths: Playing Devil’s Advocate with Steven Pinker on the Dangers of Artificial Intelligence
Should you be afraid of the robot apocalypse? (I don’t mean AI taking our jobs, I mean AI hurting or enslaving us.) Steven Pinker has a cool little video helping to assuage concerns about the dangers of advanced AI. He even gets in a little dig about “alpha males” being the ones who fear it most. He probably has a point. But does he make the case?

Nature programmed moms to look after their young. If you think this precludes absence of violence, do not stray into woods with mamma bears. If you happen to wonder between a mamma bear and her cub by circumstance and without any intent to harm the cub, she will still shred you to stir-fry pieces on the off chance you could be a threat. "Better safe than sorry" is the primary mom directive. Safety of her young, not others.
