How to Build the Ex-Machina Wetware Brain

I recently made the pilgrimage to our local movie theater to view the latest ‘rise of the machines’ artificial intelligence flick. I always make a point of watching these movies (AI, Terminator, iRobot, Transcendence, etc), as I am interested in the divide between fantasy and realty when it comes to building intelligent machines. You see, for more than a decade I have been in the business of solving the very hard problem of learning processors that physically adapt.
