Cox Is Liable for Pirating Subscribers, Ordered to pay $25 million
Today marks the end of a crucial case that will define how U.S. Internet providers deal with online piracy in the future. Following a two-week trial a Virginia federal jury reached a verdict earlier today (pdf), ruling that Cox is guilty of willful contributory copyright infringement. The case was initiated by BMG Rights Management, which held the ISP responsible for tens of thousands of copyright infringements that were committed by its subscribers.

I'm not at all surprised that Big Media is taking a page from Big Brother.
I agree. They want the whole world under their money grabbing thumb.
They especially don't want the world to interrupt their profit margins by challenging their pre-World Wide Web business models. Who cares that torrent distribution simplifies the process and makes it cheaper? That just means there's less money in it for them!
So true and they expect every ISP on earth to do their dirty work for them for free. Google is doing some of their dirty work for them for free. I hate that they have so much clout.
Does this mean I can finally sue Volvo for my traffic tickets? I mean if Cox is at fault for providing the pipeline and not stopping the traffic then Volvo is surely responsible for not including a pedal guard to stop me from speeding.
