CDC: Flu vaccine only 23 percent effective this season, but still better than nothing
So it turns out this season's flu vaccine was kind of a dud. Getting it reduced a person's chance of having to visit the doctor because of the flu by only 23 percent -- and possibly even less for many adults -- according to data released Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

So, there seems to be a little slant in this news report. 23% effective for children, less than half that effective for anyone older than 17.
I recall reading a story a few years back where the flu jumped the species barrier and infected cats. (that's called 'reverse zoonosis'). It's terribly virulent and changes often.
personally, I don't take the shot. I see no point. If I get sick, then I take off a few days and work it out.
