Wow. Excellent freaking article. Very well written.
Things are moving too far towards a "licensing society" and that's scary. If you buy something, it's yours to do with as you please. Doesn't matter if it's a book, a painting, a car, a game, or a program. You own it, you are responsible for it, you can re-sell it as you see fit.
Yes, there should be laws which deal with unauthorized (digital) copies, but what you purchase is yours in perpetuity.
