The only time I've done it was when there was a big midnight release I wanted to go to (Harry Potter and LotR, mainly) and I knew there simply wouldn't be any tickets because they were already on sale online and everybody else was going to buy them there as well.
What is wrong with buying tickets at the theater? I never understood this business.
