A lot of the benefits of owning a tiny house looks great, but I just don't think I could do it.

The room I'm sitting in right now is about the size of, or larger, than some of those houses, and I couldn't fathom fitting any other rooms in here. Dragging the bathroom over to cut off the hallway, then trying to fit a decent sized kitchen and a bedroom (Well, I could always replace the couch with a couch/bed combo) in here would just be a bit much. I might have some sort of claustrophobia or something, but I'd get extremely uncomfortable extremely quick; it'd drive me insane. I guess I favor openness and empty space more than I do tiny, functional designs.

I'm envious, though. It'd be awesome to live in one of those, from a logistical and financial standpoint. Moving would be reduced to hitching the house on the back of a truck and heading off (depending on how much these things weigh). Rent could end up being the cost of a camping spot, and utilities would be really cheap, since I'm heating and cooling a very small space, and there's no room for anything that would use a lot of resources.

It just seems like a different lifestyle, that I'd have trouble dealing with. I'd rather have a comfortably sized house on a respectable plot of land, pay it off, and have a place that I could always call mine. The idea of using the money saved to travel and do things sounds wonderful, but with the right planning and financial situation, it wouldn't be hard to do that with a regular house. This is just a way of getting to that point faster and easier. I can really respect what the people living in these tiny houses are doing.
