This article is akin to the parent chiding the child to clean his/her plate as there are starving children in the world. The food in question there or in this article was never directed to those overseas, the waste in either case has no effect. There are however multiple instances of aid, in the form of food and goods directed at starving populations expropriated by local authorities.
