It's been this way for a long time. It's just finally gotten bad enough that even the most hard-core Apple fans can no longer put up with it.
That's really sad. In some regards,everyone has that problem,no matter which os they use. So far,Linux is the least bad,but even there, year after year,developers remove features people like on some distros. It seems developer have design delusions and don't even think about the people using their creations. We have seen this with W8 and with Ubuntu's Unity,double panes removed from file managers, right clicking disabled on desktops (I'm looking at you Elementary OS!) ..The list goes on and on. I remember reading once someone said Gnome would eventually be just a big button.
