I think on the long run this will hurt the linux kernel.
Genuinely curious on why that is? Its not the first time I see this reaction!
Well, for one thing the kernel should simply be that, and then things like drivers should talk to it via API hooks, not be absorbed into the kernel. I do not believe that that many lines of code can have been properly troubleshot.
