Finally! It makes sense that they decided to update it since the main purpose of the iPod is music, and now they have Apple Music. Also, the iPod has always been the "cheaper" way to iOS devices, and this will definitely attract more people to their new music service.

Though it would've been nice to get a touch id sensor, as well as a bigger screen... Then again, it would lose its purpose of being the cheaper alternative if they did that :L

They must not care so much about it, since they're doing it without any fanfare or major rollout at WWDC.

I suppose they figured that iPod is small enough business nowadays that a "speed boost" upgrade wouldn't be worth it to include in the usual fall media event. Plus there is pressure to support Apple Music as widely as possible.

I'm hoping this means that it will instead be the next-generation Apple TV taking center stage in the fall.

I'm under the assumption it'll be the 12 in. ipad that we get bits and pieces about.

Yeah there does appear to be some indicators that the iPad Pro is on its way for a fall release. Personally I'm not very excited for a slightly bigger iPad, although I can definitely see the appeal for some people. It will be interesting to see if it will trigger an upgrade wave (still happy with my iPad Air).
