People still want plastic bottles, says Coca-Cola
Coca-Cola will not ditch single-use plastic bottles because consumers still want them, the firm's head of sustainability has told the BBC. Customers like them because they reseal and are lightweight, said Bea Perez. The firm, which is one of the biggest producers of plastic waste, has pledged to recycle as many plastic bottles as it uses by 2030. But environmental campaigners argue many Coke bottles would still go uncollected and end up in landfill.

This double standard where businesses blame consumer demand for being bad agents is just gross
Completely agree about "consumers want it", and I feel that one day this will come back to bite them. This sort of quote they made is one that will be a PR nightmare for them a few years down the road. I really doubt that me saying "people wanted me to do it" would be a good defense against me doing something unethical, after all!
Pretty sad that they can't come up with a better solution NOW. Unless it hits them in the bottom line why get serious about change I guess.
