    Skim reading is not a surprise given the amount of information we're exposed to every day. There is no way to do proper reading because there is too much to get through, too many Facebook posts, too many tweets,...

    BS. In the age of information abundance the main skill is to quickly distinguish worthy information from unworthy in a HUGE pile of it. Hence the skim reading is a must.
