I don't know. "Authoritarian Personality Syndrome" sounds too much like a made-up mental condition.
It's true that prejudice and lack of interaction with outsiders make people an easy target for manipulation, but there's no need to make up imaginary syndromes.

I think they were rebelling against a lot more than just republican elites. Trump is a populist. Labeling those who are grasping at straws as having some neurological problem is once again talking from an elitist intellectual bully pulpit.
