Let's try build a coherent story. However, each commenter is only allowed 3 words or to end the sentence.

So the rules are simple, you have to try build as coherent (and hopefully fun/interesting) a story as possible.

However, in each comment you are only allow to either add up to a max of three words or declare the end of the sentence.

You may only add to the story again if there is at least one comment after your last addition. (In other words, no commenting on your own comment. )

Edit Thought I'd leave some starting ideas.

Clarifying rules Per comment, you have two abilities to choose from

    Either,

You add UP TO THREE words (any punctuation other than full stop is welcome)

    OR

You can DECLARE THE SENTENCE ENDED, after which the next comment must begin the next sentence.
(Could also be useful to add the story up to that point in that post as well to help people know what's happening in the story.)

Sorry, if it wasn't clear, hope it make more sense now :)

Current Running Stories you can join in on!

    • Story Branch 1.2: Fear took hold, he drew his breath, he knew….

Does anyone here actually like clowns? If so what on earth do you like about them?

Ok so I posted the following as a response to a comment in another thread but I thought I would post it as a question of it's own. Below is what I wrote, please if there's anyone out there that likes clowns, I'd live to know what I'm missing.

What is up with clowns? Why do people like them? They are super super creepy. I'm not sure you could call my view on them a phobia so much as a reasonable assessment of the situation. I mean the faces they paint on themselves, you'll only really see any kind of equivalent in horror/thriller movies (not mentioning the actual clown movies). Almost every clown I have seen in real life has shown body language of someone who absolutely hates life. The outfits they put on, with all the disproportionate sizes depict distorted beings, again the likes of which would only ever feature in horror movies. Some of the most disturbing monsters in movies tend to have human likeness with horribly warped features but they're apparently fine when bright colours are attached. All the colours do for me is make me think of what a horror film might look like on an acid trip (although ti be fair I have never taken acid). Then there's the unnaturally happy demeanor they are required to put on when they clearly show signs of lack of enjoyment.

Clowns just seems to trigger a truckload of "Warning!" Signals in my brain. They always have, my whole life. In my opinion, whoever thought "hey, lets take a bunch of horror story concept ideas build a character and then use them as a "fun" kids entertainment feature!" has a serious noise in their head!

So my question is, How does one tell the program to end midway through running?

Haha came up with an even better plan than text post which is then snapped to other tribes! Just use imgur with screenshots of my code, then make a snap of that :P **Edit** Not sure why the title changed, so I changed it back.

Is there a place for this kind of thing?

So I started learning python this week after someone posted about the site codedademy. It's so far proven a great way to learn for where I am. However I decided to download an IDE to practice some of the stuff I'm learning before moving on (with a little google involved for some extra syntax help).

The thing is I don't know if I'm not googling right, because sometimes I feel like what I'm wanting to add is probably a very simple command I could add but always hit super complicated explanations online from my searches.

So I'm looking to see if there's a tribe where you could post a discussion with some of your code included in the text section and then others are able to look at your question and take it within the context of what you have coded. They'd also be able to discern a rough idea of your level of understanding from the code they see.

I mean it may well be that the advice is, "This is beyond what you have learnt, keep learning and you'll get there." However there is also a lot of fun and sense of achievement to see a small challenge/project completed (even if just done as practice and learning) .

Side note: it took me a little while to realise that one reason things weren't working is because codecademy is in python 2 while the IDE I downloaded is in python 3. Do you think while I'm still very new in my learning process, I should downoad a python 2 IDE for practicing or are the differences negligible enough to keep doing both?

Titansgrave, a new gaming world and system made by Wil Wheaton for his web series!

Some of you may have already seen this but I have really been enjoying this show. Not only do you get to see new game be played but I think it really nicely depicts some aspects of getting into character and roleplaying. I also feel Wil demonstrates ...

    YouEnterTheDungeon anyone??

So there's a subreddit I used to enjoy taking part in every now and then called /r/YouEnterTheDungeon. I was just wondering if a tribe exists here that does something similar, or if anyone might be interested in starting one. I unfortunately don't have the time to start and run a tribe otherwise I would do it myself.

I know it is kinda lame asking someone else to make a tribe but I thought I would just put the thought out there.

As someone who has just started my own business, what advice would feel is crucial I get early on?

So I was told that an engineering internship job, which I was going to start on the 1st of July, is no longer going to happen because, "We have decided we no longer want to take on a new intern at this stage." This was told to me only the day before I was supposed to start and only because I contacted them to confirm I was meant to come in the next day.

So being left high and dry, and already having developed an idea of a company I wanted to try start one day, I decided to being the 'one day' forward somewhat. The business is a handyman service that puts a strong emphasis on professionalism and transparency in an industry (at least where I live) are sorely lacking. I also hope to gain an edge by applying knowledge and skills I have learnt in mechanical engineering to solve the diverse problems that the average home owner may face.

It's only been a week and a half and I have been blown away by the interest I have received. So my question is, as things kick-off, particularly from a business point of point of view as it is not my strong point, what do you feel are important things I should be keeping in mind early on? Things that are important to get in place/keep track of/keep in mind from the start.

Tl:dr started a business, already getting interest, what advice do you have?

Edit This snap has received responses a lot quicker than I thought it would. So I just want to say, if I don't actually say it in a response to you, I really appreciate you all taking the time to stop by and share insight that you have with me.

That Mitchell and Webb Look: Homeopathic A&E

This always gives me a good laugh. If ever I meet someone who claims to be into homeopathic treatments, I'd love to get their opinion on this video as I think it does an amazing job of illustrating the lunacy of it all.

A Bit of Fry and Laurie - "Mystery" song

A classic by Hugh Laurie, it's got to be one of my favourite love songs I have ever heard.

    Hi All

    Hey Guys :)

I'm new here and am excited to explore the site. Apparently it is customary to say "hi" here.

Like many, I'm a reddit convert. I'm sorry, I know you are probably all pretty tired of us mentioning that here (I promise, I won't do it again unless relevant :P) but I only do so to get a little advice on what tribes I might want to look for by telling you the types of subreddits I used to use. Although I am aware there may not be complete equivalents over here.

I was a big fan of the

rpg, dnd and pathfinder subreddits Loved Ask(X) subreddits (eg. Askwomen, Askmen, Askscience etc), I'm a big fan on hearing things from other people's perspective. Highly doubt there is an "You Enter The Dungeon!" equivalent as it wasn't even huge there haha :P

    Ya....Maybe I should just look around. :D

Anyway, nice to be here, seems like a cool site!
